2026 Eastern Landscape Ambient Electronic Concept Album — Return to Ease

Return to Ease is a sonic journey through landscape and the inner self.

Guided by the path of “seeing water, seeing mountains, seeing heaven and earth, and ultimately seeing oneself,” the album unfolds across five pieces, tracing what a solitary traveler sees, hears, and comes to understand upon entering the mountains.

From the reflections of clouds upon the lake in Mirror of Water and Clouds, to the awakening of living things drawn toward sound in All Things Toward Sound; from Echoes of Still Water resonating through the valley, to the shifting skies of The Clouds Disperse, the journey eventually arrives at Return to Ease — a return to stillness within.

In its sound design, the album does not rely on the traditional instruments or melodic symbols commonly associated with Chinese-style music. Instead, it draws inspiration from the philosophy and aesthetics of traditional Chinese landscape painting, embracing negative space, spatial depth, and atmosphere.

Electronic synthesizers become wind, clouds, water, rain, and the countless forms of life within the landscape. Sound sketches the scenery, while soundscapes construct its imagery, transforming the listening experience into a slowly unfolding scroll of an Eastern landscape.

The long-awaited downpour never comes. The drifting clouds finally disperse, leaving heaven and earth clear once more. And somewhere between the mountains and waters, the traveler finally finds reconciliation with the self.
